Chris Coleman

I really enjoyed Chris’ lecture and the way he explained and presented his works. I was particularly intrigued by his W3FI installation. The lights and the projections moved and shifted very smoothly over the vinyl on the walls. I also appreciated the fact that this piece was interactive and tailored to the viewers in different countries. When installed in another country, the installation was translated to their language and modified to pander to the customs of that country.

Another piece that caught my attention was Constructs of Acquaintance. It was very pleasing and calming to watch all the neurons light up and pulse. When Chris explained that the piece additionally shifted color through cell phone signals, it made much more interesting. The additional pulse caused by human interaction in a way, reminded me of emotions, and mood, and how we interact with other people. It made those interactions that you normally can’t see in the brain, visible to me.
